Nigel Botterill: A cheap trial turned into a membership I could not switch off
I joined on a low-cost trial to see what the content was like. I did not think much of it, so I went to cancel before it rolled over.
That is where it got difficult. Cancelling was not a button. It was a form, then an email, then a phone call I could not get through on. Meanwhile the payments kept coming out. By the time it stopped I had paid for months of something I had not opened once.
I got some of it back after enough emails, but not all of it, and only because I kept going. Most people would have given up.
