They kept taking my money after the company was gone

I joined the membership because I liked the idea of a straightforward, affordable support group for small businesses. For the first couple of months it was fine, if a bit quiet. Then the events stopped happening. Sessions were rescheduled and then just never mentioned again. Questions in the group went unanswered for weeks. Meanwhile the payments kept leaving my account like clockwork. When I tried to cancel there was no working cancellation option — just an email address that nobody replied to. I later found out the company had been struck off and dissolved, and I was still being charged. I had to go to my bank in the end and stop it at that side. Check whether the company behind your membership actually still exists. I never thought I'd have to do that, and it cost me months of fees for nothing.
